The most common or basic job is the M&E or Mechanical and Electrical Engineer. The employee usually reports to the Facilities or Operations Manager.
Responsibilities usually include planning, execution and supervision of facilities management and operational activities. They would also include leading a team of technical officers or technicians in trouble shooting, preventive maintenance and breakdown repair work. And of course the engineer is responsible for project cost control and service standards.
Requirements depends on the employers needs. Usually they look for candidates who has a recognized Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or Building Serives. They also look for people who are able to work independently and who have good interpersonal skills. They usually require candidates who have 2 years of relevant facilities and management experience. However, they occasionally might take in fresh graduates.
Some employers stipulate that only Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents need to apply whilst others can afford to take in foreign workers.
